University climbs up the league table

St Mary’s, Twickenham, has climbed to its highest ever ranking in the 2022 edition of The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide.

The annual ranking, which compares universities from across the UK in a range of categories, sees St Mary’s climb 19 places to sit in its highest ever ranking of 67th in the league table.

The 2022 edition of the guide also marks the first time St Mary’s has sat in the top half of the national ranking. Locally, the University came 12th in London, being ranked second for teaching quality and student experience.

St Mary’s Vice-Chancellor Anthony McClaran said, “I am delighted to see St Mary’s enter the top half of the Good University Guide for the first time.

“We are just a few days away from the start of the new academic year and I look forward to welcoming our new and returning students back to campus to continue their academic journeys.”

St Mary’s Student’s Union Education President Vic Calvino said, “This is great news for the University and the student body, I know that we will all be proud to be Simmies today.”

• Liverpool Hope University – formed by the merger of two Catholic and one Church of England colleges – came 81st. And Birmingham’s Newman University was placed at 122nd.
